Brrrrr !!!

We woke up to 32 degrees!  We had our heat pump set to 63 and we were nice and warm.  It is so tough to sleep in a warm room, and not have any windows opened, but we did great.  Keeping it a cool 63 did the trick.

I guess we are smack dab in the middle of potato country.  This cold weather we are having is making trouble for the ranchers out here.  There are still a lot of potatoes in the ground, or in piles in the field.  But please, don't go hoarding potatoes!!!!

You have to admit though, the snow is pretty.  And I think after today, we are supposed to have warmer weather.  It will be a good time to go to the City of Rocks Natural Reserve in south central Idaho.  Lots of history there that we want to see.

Here are some snowy hills with the Snake River in the foreground.  It is so beautiful here.

We have met so many people and I would say more than half are full timers.  Some have been doing it for years, and some just a month or two.  One guy we met hit a huge dumpster while moving his brand new fifth wheel and now needs to replace one slide and part of his floor. He has 18 thousand dollars of damage.  I think a lot of us have learned a thing or two while living this life!  We met another guy, and his wife, who had their fifth wheel hooked up to a double cab of an 18 wheeler.  They also had two motorcycles, and while the husband drove the truck and trailer, with the bikes, the wife followed him in another truck - a daily driver.  The thing that he was upset about was that everyone has decided to go full time and home school their kids, and now he was having a hard time getting into camp grounds.  When you drive that big of rig, you have to ask for a large space.  Not very many campgrounds have space for all of their things.  We normally ask for space for our 35 foot trailer, and our truck.  We have had no problem finding space.  But when you're asking for 100 feet of space....well, good luck!

Another thing we have noticed that some people will pull in, put out their slides in their fifth wheel and that is it.  They leave themselves hitched up over night, maybe because they are only staying one night, but how can one put out their slides when they aren't level?  That is something I don't even want to try.  Road Hog has the unhitching and hitching down and we don't view it as a problem to unhitch or hitch.  To each their own I guess.
