Last Day In Nevada!

Tully is feeling so much better! She still isn’t all that active but that is due to all the medications she is currently on. The photo above is Tully at the dog park.  The park is cleaned many times a day, sprayed clean with an animal safe cleaner, then raked. No grass but lots of rocks to pee on. And the part of the dog park in the photo is only 1/8 of the size of the park. It’s huge and plenty of room for lots of dogs.

Here is Tully sleeping. She has had a tough couple of days, she needs the sleep.

Tomorrow we are leaving Nevada! We will be in Likely, CA for 5 days, then on to Klamath Falls for 3 nights. Eventually we will end up in Redmond, OR to see grandkids! Whoohoo! Addy and Owen, you better get ready! 😂

Emergency Room Visit

I noticed on Monday afternoon that Tully wasn’t feeling so hot. She never goes without eating and when she didn’t remind me to feed her dinner at 2:30 pm, I knew something was up. She was drinking water and peeing fine, but her tail was between her legs, and she just wasn’t her spunky self. We decided to take her in to the animal emergency room Tuesday morning. She was wanting something to eat that morning and I gave her a couple of teaspoons of her white rice and chicken. Once she ate that, she climbed up on the chair and was doing a little crying. Poor thing. So we looked up where the hospital was and took her there. They’re open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

Here is our drive in to the hospital. We ordered X-rays and blood draw. The blood draw was to start her on anti-seizure medication. She has about 4-6 seizures a year that last a few minutes. But her last seizure was last week and it was about 20 minutes long. Normally a vet wouldn’t start a dog on anti-seizure medicine if there is only 4-6 seizures a year, but because her last one was so long, the vet explained that seizures that long could cause brain damage. So we decided to go with the vet’s suggestion.
It turns out Tully has hardening of the vertebrae, mostly up around her neck. She was put on pain medication and a muscle relaxer. It’s amazing how well Tully feels now! She takes her medicine like a trooper, and is so much more like herself.

Everyone at the hospital told us what a sweet little girl she is.  The vets and nurses at the hospital were one in a million. We got so lucky picking this hospital. You talk about a very caring facility!
How lucky are we not to have something seriously wrong that she might’ve had to go through surgery? Tully will be 9 in June and I honestly think she deserves a party! 😂

When we got home from picking her up, we celebrated with a pizza. We have a blackstone griddle, and if we have a thin crust pizza, we cook it on the griddle. Best ever! Doesn’t even take 10 minutes before the cheese is melted and the crust crispy. Both burners are on low, and I have the lid down. It comes out perfect. I also cook Papa Murphy’s pizza like this. I keep the pizza on it’s cardboard bottom for about 2 minutes, then slide the pizza off onto the griddle.

Even though it seems like we just washed our home, it was filthy again from all the wind, sand and dirt storms we have gone through. Today was the day it was washed again.

It’s so nice to be able to see out the windows again! A guy and his son came out and charged us $3.50 a foot. It was a pretty good price.

For some reason this photo makes our home look huge! I guess it is kind of big. But with 2 cats and a dog, we all need our space!

We are leaving Friday morning to head to Likely, CA. We were there last year and really enjoyed the park. The place is called Likely Place Golf & RV Resort, and they have lots of places to walk, all out in the middle of nature. We are about 157 miles from there so it shouldn’t be too long of a drive!

Virginia City!

Today we took a short trip to Virginia City. This is the first Presbyterian Church that was dedicated on January 1, 1867. At that time, the cost was $12,000.

We selected a good day to visit. It was a nice day and towards the end of our tour, it started getting busy with tourists. Tully had a great time going in and out of stores, and people had to stop and say hi.

This building was built in 1864 and it is the Nevada State Firemen’s Museum.

Here is the Bucket of Blood Saloon. The last time we were here, it was about at least 22 years ago. It has changed! In fact, Virginia City has changed so much! Road Hog wanted to go in and buy a hat but once we walked in, and saw all the changes, we left. I won many silver dollars from this saloon, but even those machines were gone.

Silver Dollar Hotel.

If it’s got testicles or tires, it’s sure to give you trouble. 😂😂

An old safe sitting outside. It was brought to Virginia City by Mule Train.

Views of far away hills.

More views. If you click on the photo you will see snow on the hills. In fact, there was still snow in Virginia City, on the shady side of the buildings.

Turn the volume up! This is coming down the mountain from Virginia City and how windy the road was!

Snows!

Look what we woke up to yesterday morning! It was about 29 degrees, and everything was white!

It didn’t last long. The sun came out and by noon all the white was gone. It was even colder this morning, 24 degrees, but after tomorrow this cold front should be gone.

Because of the chilly weather, I made chicken and dumplings today.  The best ever! I remember my dad used to make this when I was little but I wouldn’t eat the dumplings because I don’t like soggy bread stuff. I could kick myself now because dumplings aren’t soggy! At the time I thought they were because they were cooked in liquid. But now, after realizing that the dumplings are steamed, I absolutely love them. If I could only go back in time and try my dad’s dumplings!

Nevada Sunshine!

So we had Indian cuisine on Saturday for our anniversary. I ordered the chicken biryani. It was delicious!

Road Hog had the lamb biryani.  Mind you, this isn’t what he really wanted. He did order the goat biryani, but I told him he wasn’t eating goat in front of me. So he changed his mind. (As if the lamb was any better!) But both meals were good, and we each brought 1/2 home for breakfast the next morning.

We’ve been having some nice weather. Highs around 65-70, lows in the upper 30’s. Tonight it is supposed to get down to about 30. Love this chilly weather!

Here is my Tully. She likes it here I think. She doesn’t like the fake grass though and she isn’t allowed to pee on it. Everyone has dogs here, I’m sure some of this grass has been peed on!

We went shopping at Costco this morning and bought a box home for the cats. Ethel Louise got to sit in it first.

And not long after it was Lucy’s turn. Can you see how Ethel kind of out weighs her sister? 😂 They both turned 14 this month!

Catch Up!!

We have been busy! Our buddies from Raymond stopped by to have breakfast with us last Tuesday. We weren’t scheduled to see them until July, but they were coming up from Arizona from taking care of some business. Going around, that is Road Hog on the left, David, Gene with his best buddy Tully, and Aune. It was so nice seeing these peeps! And, today is Aune’s birthday!! Happiest of birthdays Aune! We love you!!

We decided on Wednesday that we would take a trip up to an old mining camp up in the mountains. Thousands of acres all around and it was all free range. What does one meet when it is free range?

Bessie! These cows were so friendly. There were 3 in the group, and Bessie is the one that owned the road.

We made it to Berlin-Ichthyosaur state park. It was awesome!

The fossils that were found was so big that they left it in the ground and built a building around it to keep it safe. The building is the photo below.

This is the adobe house. I would have loved to go explore the inside but it was locked up tight! There were a lot of cow pies in the front yard!

Tully found some snow!

The rest of the photos are of the mill, the machine shop, outhouse, and Assay office. Click on the photos to really see the details!

I wasn’t sure what kind of truck this was. The cab was made of wood. This mining town was the best!

Yesterday, we hitched up and traveled to Sparks, NV. A beautiful park!

We are staying at Sparks Marina RV Park, and since we are in Nevada, grass does not grow here! Fake grass to the rescue! We are here for two weeks, and today we are celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary! We are going out on the town tonight this afternoon for some Indian cuisine.
