Made It To Portland!!

Since we had a later check in, in Tualatin, OR, we took our time leaving La Pine.  We didn't get on the road until 9:15 am.  We liked this park, except for one thing....

The ground was too soft!  We use buckets for the front legs, and one of the buckets was slowly sinking.  The ground was dirt, with a lot of sand, plus lots of mole or gopher hills.  Lesson learned!  Pick up some wider thingybobs for the front leveling legs!

Oregon is beautiful country over here on the east side!  Lots of great views of the mountains!

It wasn't too long before we had to travel over some of these mountains.

One of the towns over here on the east side that we love is Sisters.  Such an old cowboy town.

In the beginning, traffic was light.  The best thing?  No rain!  And of course, no snows!

I might have talked too soon!  We saw lots of snow, but the roads were clear.  Traffic even got a little heavy, and just to be nice, we pulled over twice to let traffic go through.  Even though we were going the speed limit, but there are some people that like to go over.  No problem.

God bless America!

We are staying at Roamers Rest RV Park in Tualatin, OR.  Beautiful park! Since we've been here it has rained about 13 inches.  Everything is green!  And the traffic!  Where did all these people come from?  We had to do a bit of shopping at Safeway, and do these people even know how to drive?  If I had a bathtub, I would be yelling Calgon take me away!!

Being out on the roads as much as we have, we hardly have worried about traffic.  But now that we are in huge populated areas, we see what we haven't missed!  We are here until Friday, then we travel up to Chehalis, WA.  We get to see some old friends, (long time friends and really old people!), and take care of doctor appointments.  We are running today over to Camping World because the park that we are currently at want travelers to take pride in their homes and encourage us to wash our homes!  We have no trailer soap, so we are off to go shopping.  We will be able to get all the dried bugs off our home and get the windows cleaned!  This is the first park that wants us to wash our home!  I think other parks down south would encourage us too except they try to save their water and don't want to waste it by washing trailers.  But then again, isn't the south always in a drought?  Oh well.  We get a clean home once again!

Welcome To Oregon !

We finally were able to go out for a walk last night.  The resort has a couple of ponds, and lots of hiking trails.  Next time we park here, it will be for a longer period!

Tully did the walk with us.  She smelled coyotes, deer, mice, and elk.  She had a blast!

It would be so easy to get lost, but the park has put out signs, and the trails are pretty easy to see.

Tully blends in.  She is about in the middle of the photo.  We did about a mile and a half walk.  It is beautiful country.

And this is our last night.  We had about everything packed up for a long trip today.

Here we are leaving the park.  Yes, we share with the cattle.

And lots of babies this time of year.  They are so cute!  We have gone over so many cattle guards the last couple of months!

Welcome to Oregon!  It has been awhile since we have been in this state.

We are heading up towards Bend, to a place called La Pine.

There was a warning coming into the forest....do not call the fire department.  This is a controlled burn, and there was a lot burning.

We think that this is Mt. Bachelor.  Maybe Jaime knows?

We are staying at Cascade Meadows RV Resort.  It is huge and not a lot of people here.  Maybe it is still too cold to camp?  It got up to about 55 degrees today, freezing tonight, but still lots of sunshine.  We are here until Friday, then moving up to Tualatin to see some kiddies!  (We will be surprising a couple of grandkids, and we are so excited!!)  We will be there about a week, then heading up to Chehalis!

Our Views - Could They Be Any Better?

We were on the road by 8:45 am.  Easy Peasy!  Check in wasn't until 11 am and we had just over a two hour drive.  We didn't have a whole lot to pack up, and did most of it the night before.

Two minutes later, we are in California!  I hadn't realized just how close we were to California.  I wonder if that is why they call Bordertown Bordertown?

As much as I don't care for California, it sure is a pretty state.  This is also where we saw the most traffic.

This area above was called Red Rock.  Now, I don't know how many red rocks, or what the big deal was, so we just passed on by.

Tully snoozed most of the way.  It was chilly out, about 50 degrees, but she was snug as a bug in a rug in her little soft bed and her blanket.  Ah the life of my pup!  She has really taken to the traveling life!

We passed so many area's that had a forest fire.  Thousands of acres.

I don't know a lot of these mountains names.  But man are they beautiful!  And snowy!

Welcome to Likely Place RV!

This is our view out of the bedroom.  Can you smell the fresh cut grass?

This is our view out the living room.  A couple more trailers have come in since I have taken the photo.  We have already met some of our neighbors, and some employees.

This is the view out of our kitchen window.  Now it is story time!  See the motor home in the above photo?  4 years ago, when Road Hog and I decided to go full time, the first thing that I did was investigate all the trailers, fifth wheels and motorhomes that would best suit us.  And the second thing I did, in order to find out exactly what full time living was, I started reading blogs.  I have read so many blogs!  When I asked Road Hog yesterday where our next stop was he said Likely, CA.  My first thought was, hey I have been reading a lot about Likely!  And the motorhome out my kitchen window is the guy that blogs about his and his wife full time living in their motorhome!  And, they are in Likely, CA!

http://whatsnewell.blogspot.com

I have been reading this blog for so many years, and here they are right out my kitchen window!  They work for the park and golf course, and are off the days that we are here so no telling if we will get to meet them.  But their blog talks about their travels, and work camp.  And it was people like Clarke and Elaine that kind of pushed me out of my comfort zone, sell everything, and hit the road.  You need to read their blog.  Not only do the travel in their newell, but they tow a trailer which is Clarke's shop and it is also his garage for their bug!

What a small world!  How many times have I said this exact thing the last couple of months?

Time To Move On...

It is so beautiful here!  It has been 65 during the days and as low as 28 degrees at night.  I love this cold crisp weather!  Then the sun during the day.  No way could I live here though, I would, or Road Hog would, lose all our money in the casino's!

The snows are finally melting.  I know that when it snowed here, it kept a lot of travelers from not traveling!  The trailers are slowly moving on, and bringing in new trailers, new faces, and new pups.  It seems that everyone travels with one or two dogs.

Even though we are in Bordertown, it is still considered Reno.  Here is a photo of downtown Reno.

And here is Bordertown.  Casino, gift shop, alcohol store, and RV resort.  The RV resort is nice with lots of grass for the pups.  And awesome views!

We went looking at new homes today.  They have a dealership with Alliance fifth wheels, (my brother has one), and a dealership that sells Grand Design.  What we are looking for is the huge storage area in the back of the trailer, big enough to hold our bikes-to-be.  Both Alliance and Grand Design sells them.  They also have separate living spaces, which we like.

The master bathroom in the Alliance is huge and looks like shiplap on the walls, which I love.

The solitude, Grand Design, has a front window where our bedroom currently is.  And I don't think Thomas Payne furniture is all that comfortable.  Give me something made in the good ole' USA.

But do I want another grand design?  These fifth wheels are longer, around 40 feet long, and I have heard nightmares about buying a brand new trailer.  With what happened with covid and all, the workmanship isn't all that great.  So, we have our eyes on a couple of Vanleighs up north that we will be checking out, so stay tuned.

We are leaving in the morning to Likely, CA.  We will be there for 2 nights, then on to La Pine, OR.  Heading north, to the rain.  Oh how I have missed the rain....😂

Snows!!

Today was our traveling day and we woke up to snow all around us and 37 degrees.  The snow was on all the hills and mountains and missed us!  We were on the road at 8:35 am.

Tully and I found part of a spine last night on one of our walks.  If I had a bigger home, I would have brought that with me.

Even though it was chilly, it was a beautiful day for driving.  We never hit snow on the roads.

This is Walker Lake in Hawthorne.  It is a huge lake, and it doesn't have any more fish because of the salinity levels.  And since the fish are gone, so is the wildlife.

Traffic wasn't all the bad as you can see.  This is such a beautiful country!  Getting out of the desert and into the mountains....fresh air, cold temps, and blue sky!

Most of our drive was like this until we got to Carson City.  Where is everyone going at 11:30 am?  Doesn't anyone work anymore?

More snow, but not on the roads.  You can see where the snow stops on the mountains/hills, and where the green begins.  It is so gorgeous around here.

Here is our view out of our living room window.  Look beyond the trailers and look at the snowy mountain in the back ground.

Ethel Louise was pooped after that long drive!  One of the first things that I had to do when we pulled in was to turn the heat on.  Since we will be below freezing tonight, we will fill up the fresh water tank and unhook the water, and turn on the heaters to the fresh, gray and black tanks.  I love this cold weather!

We are staying in Boardertown Casino and RV Resort, in Reno.  We walked down to the casino for a late lunch and one of my favorite sandwiches was on the menu!  Monte Cristo!  I think it was one of the best ones that I have ever had!  I saved half for breakfast.

Road Hog had one of his favorites, (and Aune's!) a French dip!  It has been so long since he has had one of these.  Afterwards, we had to donate some money to the casino.  Well, I donated, Road Hog won.

It has been years and years since we have been in Reno!  Big time winner here!

And here is Farm Man Road Hog cashing out.  (Where in the heck did those suspenders come from?  ðŸ˜‚
