New Friends!

 

On Sunday we went to see Murphy play soccer.  He has some moves!  How can these kids play when it is over 80 degrees?  I don’t know how many fields there were, (many!) and there were hundreds of kids.  They all were enjoying themselves running and kicking the ball.

Today, I had walked in the bathroom to get some aspirin out of the medicine cabinet.  As I was opening it, I saw the shower curtain behind me in the mirror.  And something on the other side of the shower curtain. (Click on the photo to see what I saw!)

Eww!  Ok, I now have a dilemma.  I’m home by myself. Well, I’m with the cats and Tully.  And from looking at what is on my shower curtain, I’m in a whole lot of trouble if it’s a spider.  I can deal with it if it’s a stink bug.  I went to get the fly swatter because there was no way I was using just my hand to get whatever it is off my shower curtain.  I also grabbed a stool since I’m not the tallest person around.  The bug was running, yes, running up the shower curtain.  It had lots of legs to move that fast!  I took the fly swatter and hit the shower curtain a couple of times, hoping that it would fall in the shower.  That didn’t happen. It was totally gone.  So I got up on the stool to look where I have my little birdies and one bird had more then their share of legs.  I took the fly swatter to it and here is what I found…

I will take stink bugs over spiders any day!  I got him, the granddaddy of all stink bugs, on my fly swatter and flipped him outside.  Eww!  What is up with these bugs?

Look who stopped by today!  I didn’t get the name of these girls but wow, they are beautiful!  And such gorgeous blue eyes! They were rescued by Jim, and they love everyone! 

Here is another girl, Katie, who was also rescued.  She has gone through so much, including having her eyes removed.  For going through what she has gone through, she was also so loving.  Jim owns all three pups and you can tell that these dogs are just so happy to be rescued and to be loved.

We are in a middle of a thunderstorm, with lots of rain.  After today, a cold front is coming through, with the lows of 29 degrees.  Oh darn! Maybe it will freeze all the bugs!

Atlantic Ocean!

 

Here is my first look at the Atlantic Ocean!  How cool is that?!  Ang, Murphy and Sal took Road Hog, myself and Tully to the ocean!

The ocean was awesome!  Lots of shells, 72 degrees and warm water!

There were some clouds but still nice weather.

I picked up this shell and found a heart.

One of the coolest thing that I found was a bird skull. I gave it to Murphy to take to school.

Sal loves the ocean.  And she also loves to dig.  She isn’t allowed to dig at home but at the ocean it was a go!

After lunch it was ice cream time!

There were a couple of kitties that missed us!

It’s fall here in Mebane, North Carolina.  It was 75 today and in the upper 30’s at night.  Great weather!

Family Fun!

 

We went visiting Tuesday and saw Ang, Ly, and Murphy. Here is little Thade.  He is 17 years old! He can’t hear, and can barely see, but he still does alright.  He has lost most of his teeth so his tongue hangs out.

This is Sal, their 10 month old puppy.  And she acts just like a puppy!  Isn’t she photogenic?  She is so sweet!

Sal wanted to play with Tully, but Tully didn’t want anything to do with that huge puppy!

This is our grandson Murphy!  He sure has shot up!

Ang fixed ribs for dinner.  Their house is beautiful and huge!  So many doors in that house!  Lots of room for Sal and Murphy to run around!

It has been forever since we have driven at night.

Then on the following day, Murphy and Ang came out to our place for hotdogs.  

Do you see Ethel’s eyes?  I put catnip out for her.  She kind of zoned out for a few minutes with her crazy eyes like that.

We have so many squirrels outside!  And so many nut trees!  You can’t even stand below a tree or you will get hit with a nut!

I was out walking Tully this morning when Fran, an employee here at the park stopped me to tell me about a snake she found when she was raking up leaves.  It was a copperhead, and she kept at it with her rake until it left the area.  I didn’t realize that we even had snakes here in the park, and since it is fall, the grounds are covered with leaves.  Stupid snakes!  We will have to be very careful with Tully on her walks.

Tomorrow, we are going to the ocean with Ang and Murphy! The ocean is supposed to have really warm water so I can’t wait to feel it! 

Mebane, (Muh bin) North Carolina!

 

We made it to North Carolina.  We left about 9:30 am and had mostly freeway driving.  You would think freeway driving would be a breeze…it’s not, and wasn’t!

Sometimes we were stuck between a truck and a cement barrier!  Look how skinny those lanes are!

But after the barriers it was smooth sailing.  Well, until you come to a bridge, then it wasn’t as smooth.  These roads have a lot to be desired, that’s for dang sure!

This isn’t my photo but I saw my first groundhog!  Look how cute this guy is! Yes, I know they do a lot of damage to yards and buildings, but since I don’t own neither, they are cute little furry animals.  The groundhog was running (if you call it that), behind some houses, at the edge of their back yards.  I knew it wasn’t a cat just from the way it was running.  So I looked it up and groundhog popped up.  Isn’t he cute?

We are staying at Jones Station RV Park.  We have never been here, but so far this is our favorite park! We love it here! No noise whatsoever, except the little birdies that are singing.  No traffic, railroads or airplanes!  And lots of room!  I have my bird feeders out and my little water fountain.  We are on a two week vacation!  😂

The lots are level, and even though there are lots of trees, we have northern exposure for starlink, and southern exposure for our dish satellite.  The trees are between sites so you don’t even see your neighbors.  But because most of us travel with animals, we have met the most nicest people.

Angela, Ly and Murphy live about 26 miles from where we are, in a town called Durham.  She is making dinner for us tonight so we will be heading over there at about 2:30.  

The temps here are great! No need for the air conditioners and the fireplace is on first thing in the morning to take the chill off.  We are supposed to have thunderstorms on Thursday, otherwise no rain in the forecast.  I will try to keep everyone up to date on our happenings!

Welcome To Georgia and South Carolina!

 

What a ride it has been! Zipping through states like they’re going out of style!  No wonder we are so tired! 😁

We were on the road by 8:30, hoping we would miss rush hour in Atlanta.  See how big that city is in the above photo?  We were kind of leery driving right through the big city, and there is a highway that goes around the city.  We learned last week that there was major construction happening on the freeway that went around Atlanta, so we gritted our teeth and plowed through the middle.

Yes, lots of traffic and it is rush hour all day in Atlanta.  The lanes are not wide at all!  When you have someone texting, driving the car next to you, I had to grit my teeth a couple of times.  Come on people!!! Get off your phones!

But it soon thinned out and it didn’t put us behind at all.  In fact, we are another friccken hour ahead AGAIN!  So, for the folks back in the west, remember, we are now 3 hours ahead.  I will have to say that there is a pro to this time change…I’m now in the same time zone as Angela! (My daughter who we will get to see next week, along with her family.  I’m so dang excited!)

Alright, back to our travels!  Welcome to South Carolina!  These are all new states for me.  I can’t use the Georgia sticker though on my map because we only drove through.

As soon as we crossed over to South Carolina, we had to make a pit stop.

We are on our way to Spartanburg, and, I’m am NOT lying about this!  We had to pass a town called Sugar Tit!  No lie!

Sugar Tit is a very old town and my guess is that it is full of men living there.  Men love that word.  Even Road Hog laughed when I said the name.  I bet men live there just so they could tell other people where they live.  Yes, I live over in Sugar Tit.  (Giggle, giggle).

We took Tully on her walky walk.  There are lots of different smells for her.  So, not much walking, but a lot of sniffing!

Here is where we have been since August.  It has taken us 2 months to get here, well, when leave for North Carolina on Monday.  17 campsites! When we get to North Carolina on Monday, we have a 2 week stay! I’m so looking forward to relax a bit, go out and eat, see the Atlantic Ocean!  Click on the map to make it bigger.
