Moving Day!

 

We moved on today, back to La Conner Marina.  The bunny came out to say thanks for all the goodies that I left for her, the squirrel, and the little birdies.  I’m getting used to these 20 mile drives !!  And the cats love the short travel days!

We were famished after our big move and decided to go for teriyaki for dinner.  They were closed but look what we found!  Dad’s Diner to Go Go!  It’s a barbecue place that has a huge barbecue next to the little building.  We got to talking with the owner and come to find out he grew up in Livingston, Texas!  (That is where our mail box is!). Small world!  And the people that deal with our mail in Livingston?  He is friends with those people!  (Escapees!) 

We ended up getting a side of Mac and cheese, coleslaw, and a rack of ribs.  We took it home to eat in the air conditioning fifth wheel!

This barbecue is probably in my top 3.  The sauce is to die for, and the mac and cheese was excellent!  The meat was falling off the bones.  Now, this was only a small food truck with a barbecue smoking (with wood!) next to it.  But I’m telling ya, if you visit Anacortes, go get some brisket or ribs!  Tell him his friends from Livingston sent you!

After our move, Lucy found one of Ethel’s beds and decided she liked it!  Now if you know Lucy, she is pretty picky about where she sleeps.  This is good news.  Now maybe she will stay out of the bedroom!  Silly kitty!

We stopped by a little fruit stand and found fresh apricots!  I love apricots, especially fresh ones!  Let me tell you a little story.  I don’t ever remember eating an apricot until I was 7 years old.  I went to live with my aunt and uncle and cousins in Texas.  They had an apricot tree in the back yard.  I remember my aunt picking one and giving it to me and I can taste that apricot today.  It was the best thing I had ever tasted, and to this day, I try to find the same tasting apricots.  You buy them from stores, but they’re pretty tasteless.  I have the best luck buying them fresh from the fruit stands.  As soon as I walked up and saw those apricots, the dude grabbed one and cut it in half and gave me half to taste.  There I was, 7 years old again, biting into my first apricot.  Isn’t it funny the things you remember?  

Visiting The Shack!

 

This shack is right down the road from our camp.  Cindy and Dave took us here last year and we thought we would give it another try, to see if they were still good.  We’ve been hankering for some good fish and chips!

The shack didn’t have any halibut so we went with the Alaskan cod.  The shack seems like it is always busy, so once we received our order, we went back home to eat.

The fish and chips were excellent!  And they don’t cover everything with salt.

We also bought our first watermelon of the summer.  It was one of the best we have ever had. Five bucks at Walmart!  Go get yourself one! They are grown in Bakersfield, CA.  It is from Marquez Farms Produce.  They know what they’re doing!

My little Tully.  She is relaxing after a morning of shopping.  We went up to Bellingham to a store called Home Goods.  I found out about this store last week when my sister took me. Why has nobody ever told me about this store? We are buying things that are NOT made in China.  We were able to find a blanket for our bed, and some other goodies, NOT MADE IN CHINA!!  Mind you, this store has a lot of stuff made in China, but once you start looking, you should be able to find what you need.  Do not give China your money! Give it to the good ‘ole USA, and if not us, then another country!  But not China!

And just a note here about gun control….

Guns don’t kill people. People kill people!

Happy 4th and Other Things!

 

As you can tell by Tully’s face, she doesn’t care too much for Lucy. I think there is a little bit of intimidation coming from both sides. It has always been like this…even at the farm.  Tully might be the princess but Lucy Lu is the queen.

Tully had a very hard time during the forth.  The cats could care less, but we spent the whole day with Tully to keep her calm.  It was past midnight when the loud booms stopped.

Then there is Ethel Louise.  She got a new bed last week and even before I could place it where her other bed was, she tried it out to see if she could fit.  I think we were all surprised, including Ethel Louise, that she fit just fine.

I’ve been feeding the birds and the bunnies. Some of these bunnies are smaller than my fist, so there are lots of babies around! 

Then there is Lucy Lu.  She covers herself on her own.  Normally her head is also hidden, but I think she wanted to see what the other animals were up to.

We are currently camping in Anacortes.  It is beautiful here.  Lots of trees, (but not blocking my satellite!), and so quiet!  We are here until Sunday, then we move back down to the La Conner Marina.

We have had some problems with our new home.  We finally found someone to come out and fix some things.  One of the things was the dryer.  I didn’t think the ventilation was working all that great because when I dried clothes, and I opened the dryer door, lots of lint would float out. Road Hog and the repair dude took out my dryer and the dryer hose was too long and smashed in a couple of places.  They fixed all of that, put everything back together and it works like a charm! Woohoo!

Another problem we had was a new problem.  When we moved up here from La Conner, the bedroom slide wouldn’t come in.  We finally got it in, parked here in Anacortes, and the slide wouldn’t come out.  After finagling it and playing with the buttons, we got it out.  The repair dude started it up to bring it in, and it came in! What?  Honestly, if I didn’t have a video of it when I was trying to bring it in, he would have thought I was a liar!  The bedroom slide has two motors, on the top, on each side.  They were out of sync.  I’m happy to say that they are now in sync!

One of the problems we had was with the satellite.  We were without satellite for 3 weeks. Do you know what that means? We used our internet for watching tv. Which means now we don’t have internet unless we use our phones for hot spots. It does work, but we have decided to go with Starlink RV.  We will try it out and let you know how well it works.

Back From The Dead!

 

We have been out of commission for a while.  Both of us have been sick, but now have finally come out of it.  It has been a long long week!

Anyway, up in the photo above, I circled the little window where I saw that a bird was trying to get in.  I went outside and here is what I saw:

😂 it looks like a little robin fledging.  How can I tell it is a young'un?  Look at the little tuffs of feathers on his head.  How cute is that?  He rested for a while then took off.

OK Aunt Jackie!  Sorry I am so late in these photos.  Here is the kitchen. I'm not sure if the island was in when you were here.  They do have the appliances, they just need to be installed.

The living room.  Lots of barn doors.  And the flooring throughout the house is awesome.  Nothing that the animals can destroy.

Here is the supervisor in I guess what is the family room.  I'm not too sure what this room is, but as you can see, Abby is hard at work.

The master bath.  We live in a 42 foot fifth wheel and I think there is more room in their master bath than in our fifth wheel!

And Aunt Jackie, what we both feel the most important thing, a place to bird watch!  Lots of little birds flying around, making homes out of these birdhouses.

This was taken last week before any of us became sick!  Oh, the good ol' days!  😂

And of course, my little Tully.  She is such a good pup.  Abby has really quieted down since she is a bit older and doesn't bother Tully at all.

Here is Lucy in the middle of ... I don't know what.  I do know that she is the same color as our pillow and chair, and if she didn't have white fur on her, she would be lost to us forever.

We had DISH come out today and after 3 hours, we finally have TV!  We had to remove the fireplace to look at all those wires!  Lazydays did such a lousy job with the installation of our DISH.  They did NOTHING right with what we ordered.  So, do not give your business to Lazy Days in Woodland, WA.  They do not return calls, and we are having to go through our manufacture for resolving our issues.

There's A Man Named Rick....And What A Man He Is !!!!

 

Well, here we are.  We are camping at the La Conner RV Park and Marina.  It is so quiet here, and not a whole lot of campers.  We're here for 12 days, then on to Anacortes.

Ethel and Lucy have gotten used to their new home.  It took a couple of days, but they are really enjoying the extra space.

Ethel is finally relaxed enough to sit down and watch the going ons.

And here is Lucy watching the going ons.  Nothing like a creepy kitty photo.  Aren't her eyes pretty though?

OK, these next photos are mostly for Aunt Jackie.  She hasn't seen the farm since before Cindy and Dave had the trees removed.  If you aren't Aunt Jackie, I guess it is ok if you look too.

Aunt Jackie, this photo is looking at the barn.  Remember all the trees that were in front of it?  And beside it?  Oh, and Abby wanted to be in the photo too.

Aunt Jackie, this is looking towards the end of the driveway where their mail box is.  They left a couple of trees down there at the corner.  Remember their chicken coop?  That is it - the little red building.

And here I am towards the beginning of the driveway.  The new add on, the right of the photo, is the master bedroom.  This was new to us.  And you can also see where the garage is, which really hasn't changed.  So all in all, the farm is really coming along, and the house is beautiful.  If you want photos of the house, let me know.  (You too Dwayne and Terri!)

Here is my washer and dryer.  One of the best days of my life happened today!!  Cindy and Dave introduced us to Rick.  He is a plumber that has been working for them up at the farm.  He came highly rated, and guess what he did?  HE FIXED MY LEAK FROM THE WASHING MACHINE.  Now, go back and read that line again!  Do you not understand how excited I am?  I did a whole load of clothes, and by golly, no leak!!  Road Hog even fixed the dryer - he pulled the machines out about an inch and that pretty much fixed the vent problem.  My clothes were washed and dried. Rick does not work on trailers, but he did it this time for us.  And I am forever grateful to Rick.  If you need a plumber, R and R Plumbing.  You won't regret it.  Thanks Rick!!!  And thanks to Cindy and Dave for helping us with this HUGE problem!  I am now a very happy camper!  (Literally! 😂😂)

One Down, 3 To Go!

Saturday had NO rain!!!  We invited the kids and grandkids over for lunch.  We catered from Carolina Smoke Barbecue and it was great food.  It was nice getting all the cousins together.  (We missed the Eders!). Jaime and her family were in Bend for the weekend and couldn't make it.

The boys had a lot of fun at the playground, and we got to visit with Ang, Ly, Michael, Sid, Andy and Kate.

Look at this sweet baby!  This is Andy and Kate's latest master piece, Elliott.  She is such a happy baby!

Look at Murphy's face!  Is this not the same as Angela's face?  He is making that face to Wes.  The cousins play on the same tag football team.

It was so nice having everyone over to our new home.  It was great seeing everyone again.

On Sunday we had some friends over that we haven't seen since last year.  Rod is one of them.  He helped us build our deck when we lived in Mukilteo.

And Kerri was with him.  She is my bff from Boeing back from 1988/89.  She has been my best friend forever.  She is an awesome lady, not at all old, and just the best.

When Road Hog and I went shopping this morning, we stopped by Kerri's house to see her little Heartly Weiner dog.  Isn't she the cutest?

She is so photogenic.  And if Kerri hadn't been around, I would have slipped Heartly in my pocket.

We had RV Repair come out last week and out of everything they said they could fix, only one was taken care of.  We had bought a new winegard for the internet, and rv repair replaced the broken one that we had on the roof.  That is all they did.  Big, huge disappointment!  If you are a RV Repair, why don't you have parts in your van?  And why didn't you tell me that plumbing isn't your 'thing'?

We are moving tomorrow - going up to La Conner.  We will try to get things fixed when we are there.  We finally have our internet working, now on to the satellite, dryer and washer!
