Sorry for the April fools post! We didn't have a flat tire, and we made it to Tuba City just fine! BUT !!! Notice how big that BUT was? The RV park in Navajo Land was right behind the hotel. It wasn't a very big park, and people would come in, stay a night then leave. We got to Navajo Land last Friday, and planned to stay until the next Monday, April 4th. We instead left Sunday, the 3rd to come to Kaibab, AZ.
This was happening the day that we left. This guy was on top of his motor home, making sure the branches didn't hit the roof. His wife was driving. This was a 'waiting for an accident to happen'. This couple was pretty stupid.
When we got checked in to Navajo Land, we had 4 full bars of service with our t-moble. I also had 5G. So, no problem, right? I think we had it so good because the tower was less than 1/2 mile away. But do you know what? We absolutely did not have internet. No email, no news, no nothing. For some reason, the Navajo was blocking all of our access. It was so strange. And these people were acting like the virus just started. Everyone, outside and inside, were wearing masks. Only a certain amount of people were allowed in stores and such. And when you finally got to go in, mask up! No, I didn't go anywhere. I was so uncomfortable at this place! Why block our internet? This place was so strange! Plus, their time is different than Arizona's time even though the reservation is in Arizona. So Sunday afternoon, we both decided to pack up and leave! We contacted the place where we were due the following day and they said yes, come in early. So we did! What a huge relief! Get me out of there!!
The drive to Kaibab was beautiful! It was Sunday afternoon, hardly any traffic, and just a all around beautiful day!
Now we stayed at the Kaibab Piaute park last November, so we kind of know what to expect. It was still all new to us because we were coming in a different way.
It was about a 3 hour drive, and the time went quick! The cats were in their carriers in the back seat and Tully Mae was sitting on my lap.
We came up to the dam on the Colorado River. The Glen Canyon Dam.
And still, not a lot of traffic. Look at the beauty of the bridge! OK, I admit, I had a little anxiety going over it. And I might even have closed my eyes just a tad bit.
We made it to the other side without any problems.
Now we are in Utah. Wait! I think this was another time change! We then made it to Kaibab, AZ, and I swear, if I ever quit traveling, it will be because of these stupid time changes!!!
Here is what my view out our windows look like. We like this camp, and even though this park is on a reservation, these people are so nice, and the camp is huge. Plus, we can read the news! Wooohooo!
We are here until April 8th. Then we have a huge drive in front of us...20 miles! We will be camping in the town of Kanab, UT. Angela, Ly and Murphy will be meeting us there, and they will be camping in a tent. We haven't seen Ly since he left last year for the Army so we are pretty excited to see him, and of course Angela and Murphy! We will be doing a lot of touristy things. I think there is hiking on the list, shopping, and visiting!
We agreed translation is "can we get the heck out of here?" 'Yes dear"
